Primary school start: which extracurricular activity to choose for your child?

Primary school start: which extracurricular activity to choose for your child?

Exciting back to school activities. To develop in a field they already enjoy, to get out of their comfort zone to gain confidence or to learn to follow group rules... Extracurricular activities are excellent for developing the abilities of your children. But how do you choose a Wednesday afternoon activity based on your child's personality?

If your child is a dreamer...

They need to learn to stay focused.

Handicrafts, arts and crafts or drawing are activities that can be practiced in a calm environment and have the advantage of working both imagination and concentration.

If your kid needs to learn to be consistent

Circus school is perfect for working on balance and taking possession of space. If there is no circus school near you, you can also ask at any leisure center, some of them offer courses during the vacations.

If your child is a real leader!

They need to learn to respect the rules

Rugby, volleyball, handball... Here again, we recommend a team activity but for the opposite effect! Because when you say team, you say rules and a ball to share with your little friends!

Your child needs to learn team spirit

There is nothing like music or singing lessons to learn to compose with others and create a beautiful harmony together!

Your child is rather shy

They need to learn to get confident

Basketball, soccer, handball will encourage them to take a place in a group and will teach the spirit of cohesion to support positive links... perfect to give them self-confidence!

Your child needs to learn to get strong and confident

Communicate clearly, move on stage, play in front of an audience... Theater is the ideal activity to learn to open up to others and to be confident!

Your kid needs to avoid body image issues

Thanks to the sensation of weightlessness, swimming improves flexibility. It naturally encourages good coordination of movements and therefore harmony with their body!

Whatever activity you choose, do it regularly and do not forget what is essential for your child's development: having fun! There is no point in forcing your kids to practice a hobby if they don't want to! Don't hesitate to let them try different activities if their schedule allows it, to quit an extracurricular activity (don't force a specific activity). Listen to them to avoid the opposite effect!
